My Natural Hair Wish List

By |September 18th, 2014|Curls, Uncategorized|7 Comments

I want!
Since my blog is all about hair, I decided to make an Amazon wish list of some products I have had my eye on for some time. Though my wash and go hair care routine in general is pretty much the same for the most part – just a sulfate-free shampoo, deep conditioner, a leave in conditioner, and an oil like jojoba, tea tree, or coconut oil. Styling follows after those steps. I am still constantly on the look out for better and cleaner hair care products and the brands that will give me better hair days for longer times. These need to be in my bathroom…ASAP

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions (Natural Hair)

By |August 20th, 2014|Curls|4 Comments

Hello Curly Queens,

I have been asked a number of questions and I figured it would be easiest to just answer all of them on the blog. Some of these are questions that people have asked me via email, instagram, Facebook, and in person.

Q. I only wear weave and braids. I never wear my hair while I am transitioning. Is that okay?

Hey Curl Friends,
So, I have new product favorites when it comes to the shampoos and conditioners. The other products have NOT been written off my list. They are now products that I will use if I run out of what I have.

New Product Favorites
Shampoo: Ouidad Climate Control De-Frizzing Shampoo

I got a chance to experience getting my hair done at an Ouidad certified salon as part of an hair modeling gig and I fell in love.

Natural Hair Product Capitalism

By |March 28th, 2014|Personal, Rant|10 Comments

I’m trying not to make this a rant so forgive me if it slowly turns into one.

Have you all noticed that all these hair companies are now trying to cash in and cater to the natural hair community?  I feel a certain type of way about it. Where were you guys at when I really needed you? I needed products back in like 2003. I use to stroll up and down the hair aisle for hours reading labels and hunting for products. I used to settle on mousses, gels, curl activators, oh and Hawaiian silky. (Who used to use Hawaiian Silky?) Some examples of major hair companies that have started marketing to the naturals are Dr. Miracles, Dark & Lovely, Soft sheen-Carson, Motions, QP Elasta, and even Pro-style. I have not purchased any of those brands for natural hair care because I feel like they are just doing it for the money. Do they genuinely care about the well being of your curls?  Was there any real care or effort in creating these products? What if they are the same products for the relaxed ladies but just repackaged and put on the shelf for a higher price?

Miss Jessie’s products helped give my hair life.

By |February 22nd, 2014|Products, Tips|1 Comment

Ok, so this is my own opinion. No one paid me to write this or bribed me or anything like that. The fact of the matter is, is that I love Miss Jessie’s products. These products have helped me to be able to get the MOST out of my wash & go’s. (Before I was using just shea butter & pro style brown gel…I know :-O)  I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs try to bash Miss Jessie’s for not using completely natural products, but I say to each their own. I’m not one of those ingredients Nazis. I do not know if the ingredients in Miss Jessie’s are all completely natural or not. What I do know is that these products work for me and they are not hurting my hair in any type of way. In fact, my hair just seems to love it. I have been able to achieve such lovely big spirally curls from using pillow soft curls, which is a styler*.

* A styler is a product that I apply to my hair after I have thoroughly moisturized my hair. It provides a light hold for less frizz but no crunch.
